Budget-Friendly Hotel Near BTS Asok Station in Bangkok: Hotel Clover Asoke – The Top Choice for Family-Friendly Stays
Hotel Clover Asoke is a high-value four-star hotel offering convenient transportation, excellent amenities, and a rooftop bar and pool. Located just a five-minute walk from BTS Asok Station in the heart of Bangkok, this post will share my wonderful experience at this family-friendly hotel.
English is not my native language, but I am currently learning it. I am attempting to write articles in English to help others who may be searching for information. Some sentences might sound awkward or unusual, and I hope you understand. I welcome any questions you may have, and I’ll be happy to respond.
Budget Accommodation in Asok, Bangkok: Hotel Clover Asoke
Located in the heart of Bangkok, this four-star hotel is part of a Singapore-based boutique hotel chain. The Clover Group has branches in Singapore, Japan, and Thailand’s Bangkok and Phuket. This establishment entered the Thai market in 2016, choosing the popular Asok area for its first hotel in Bangkok.
For families traveling to Bangkok, finding a budget-friendly accommodation near BTS Asok can be a game-changer. This hotel not only offers great value but also a variety of amenities that cater to families.
The hotel is only 300 meters from BTS Asok and 380 meters from MRT Sukhumvit, about a five-minute walk. You can see the hotel building from the skywalk exiting the station. The hotel features 95 stylish and comfortable rooms across its 9 floors, with a rooftop pool, bar, and restaurant.
The design of this hotel is modern and artistic. The compact and high-ceiling lobby immediately catches the eye, especially with its blue cloud and dolphin artwork on the ceiling, complemented by colorful sofas adding vibrancy to the space.
<CHECK IN >
Check-in time is 14:00. Due to a personal oversight, there were some issues with my reservation. Worried about my limited English skills, I was pleasantly surprised to meet a very attentive front desk staff member who could speak English, Chinese, and Japanese. He quickly resolved the issue and completed my check-in, which was greatly appreciated!
The front desk is open 24 hours, allowing for check-in at any time, day or night. The hotel also offers paid airport shuttle services. During the day, you can book massages and tours at the front desk, making it easy to relax or explore Bangkok.
If you think the hotel’s five-minute proximity to the station is convenient, you’ll be pleased to know that there is a 7-11 convenience store right next to the hotel, as well as numerous street food vendors. You can easily shop within 30 seconds of leaving the hotel. There’s also a currency exchange office on the ground floor, although the exchange rate isn’t great. I recommend exchanging money at SuperRich in Asok station for better rates.
🔸Travel Tip for Thailand: Bringing TWD or USD to local exchange offices will get you better rates. In Thailand’s 7-11 convenience stores, you can use a credit card for purchases over 200 THB.
The rooms are non-smoking, but there is a thoughtfully designed smoking area on the ground floor. This area is tastefully decorated, providing a comfortable space for guests who smoke without compromising the overall design of the accommodation.

Room Types
This hotel offers various room types, including family rooms, triple rooms, quadruple rooms, and small family rooms, catering to different travelers’ needs. One standout feature is the ladies-only floor, providing enhanced privacy and security for female guests.
Family Room with Bangkok City View – A Home Away from Home
I stayed in a Family Room with city views, featuring two double beds, making it ideal for families.
With a unique curved floor-to-ceiling window in the master bedroom, you can enjoy Bangkok’s cityscape right from your room, creating a semi-private space in the master bedroom.
The room’s design and lighting are very cozy and warm. Children under 12 can stay for free.
The Family Room is spacious at 35 square meters, the largest room type in this hotel apart from the connecting rooms. The room has two air conditioners, ensuring it stays cool.
The large wardrobe by the entrance includes bathrobes, slippers, a hairdryer, and laundry services (for an additional fee).
The bedding features a subtle clover pattern. The clover represents luck, and sleeping on it feels like being surrounded by good fortune.
Each bedside has power sockets for convenient charging.
Every bed has two pillows, allowing guests to adjust according to their sleep habits—or for a pillow fight! The softness of the mattress and pillows is perfect (on the softer side), offering just the right support, making it my dream bed.
The other double bed is firmer, resembling a sofa bed. I appreciated the small bedside lamp in this area.
Mini Bar
The room’s mini bar is well-stocked, including a kettle, coffee, tea, a microwave, and a capsule coffee machine! You don’t need to leave your room to enjoy a cup of coffee. I always plan to buy milk at 7-11 downstairs to make a latte in my room but always forget until I check out.
The fridge is stocked with bottled water and juice, all complimentary. For extended stays, only bottled water, tea, and coffee are replenished daily.
The bathroom is centrally located for easy access from both sleeping areas.
The bathroom features a separate shower and dry area, keeping it clean and tidy. Three rolls of toilet paper are provided, so no worries about running out. The built-in shelf space is great for organizing toiletries.
The amenities are comprehensive, and I particularly enjoyed the soap’s pleasant scent, exclusive to Clover packaging. Unfortunately, I couldn’t determine the manufacturer.
The shower has excellent water pressure, but finding the right temperature for the hot water can be a bit challenging. The instructions, illustrated with an adorable elephant diagram, are both charming and useful.
A small drying rack in front of the bathroom was very useful for drying clothes after washing.
Facilities
As a four-star hotel, it offers not only quality service but also a variety of facilities. The restaurant, pool, and Sky Bar are all located on the rooftop, with the bar and pool featuring an open-air design.
Bangkok Rooftop Infinity Pool & Sky Bar
The rooftop pool and Sky Bar at this hotel offer stunning views of Bangkok, making it a popular choice among travelers looking for a high-value stay near BTS Asok. The Sky Bar and pool are open from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, serving a variety of draft beers, cocktails, and other drinks.
Enjoy different views during the day and night, each offering a unique Bangkok experience.
At night, you can relax in the rooftop infinity pool with a drink, taking in the romantic city lights of Bangkok.
During the day, sunlight shimmers on the pool’s surface, revealing the bustling streets of Bangkok below. The hotel occasionally hosts pool parties, so check their Facebook page for the latest events.
Gym
For those who want to stay fit while on vacation, the gym is located in the basement. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see it during my stay due to renovations. From Agoda photos, the gym looks well-equipped and spacious.
Asoke Restaurant – Delicious Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Options
The restaurant offers a rich buffet breakfast and a la carte Thai and Western dishes for lunch and dinner. If you didn’t book a room with breakfast, you can purchase breakfast for 350 THB per adult and 175 THB per child. (The hotel occasionally offers promotions, such as a 555 THB deal for two. Follow their Facebook page for updates.)
Operating Hours: 6:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Breakfast: 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Lunch/Dinner: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Staff will seat you upon arrival. The restaurant’s design is also full of artistic touches, incorporating bird motifs, which interestingly complement the dolphin design on the first floor. The birds on the ceiling symbolize the open sky, while the first floor feels like an underwater world with freely swimming dolphins.
The vibrant bird and fish-themed chairbacks create a sense of natural wonder. Reviewing the photos later, I noticed even the napkin colors were carefully chosen.
The buffet breakfast offers a wide variety of choices to start your day.
Options include classic Western dishes like salads, pasta, bacon, bread, and omelets, as well as Chinese porridge.
The bread selection is comprehensive, featuring croissants, French bread, toast, and sweet waffles.
Since I stayed for two nights, I noticed the breakfast menu changes daily, so there’s no risk of getting bored even during an extended stay.
Speaking of classic Thai cuisine, the self-serve Thai noodles at breakfast are a must-try. Just look at that array of toppings—who wouldn’t want a bowl of this?
First, take a portion of noodles and blanch them in hot water. Then, add your preferred toppings like fish balls, eggs, and minced meat. Finally, pour the broth over the noodles and add fish sauce, chili, and crushed peanuts for a unique Thai flavor.
The noodles are the type we call “kway teow” (flat rice noodles), not the white noodles commonly eaten in Taiwan. Their chewy and smooth texture is simply irresistible. Even if I only had this bowl for breakfast, I’d be satisfied.
The drinks station offers more than just coffee and tea. For the first time, I saw a self-service fridge stocked with various yogurts, fresh juices, and milk, ensuring everything is fresh and easy to choose from.
Don’t miss the fresh fruit section for a balanced, beauty-boosting breakfast. The pineapples are particularly sweet, and they also offer red and white dragon fruit.
The live egg-cooking station is a highlight of the buffet, and there’s even a “hidden menu” option! I noticed other guests ordering Thai iced tea from the staff, so despite being full, I couldn’t resist trying one myself.
Each staff member was incredibly friendly, especially Ross at the egg station. He kept checking if we were satisfied with our meal, showing more concern than even my own grandmother!
On the morning of our checkout, the staff surprised us with heart-shaped watermelon slices and coconut jelly, perfectly matching Clover’s brand theme. Despite being full, this thoughtful gesture from the staff truly touched my heart. Whether these heart-shaped treats are a part of the Clover brand or not, they definitely won me over!
The hidden culinary delights didn’t stop there. We also got to try pandan waffles! Despite being extremely full, I couldn’t refuse the hospitality. The soft, fragrant waffles didn’t need any syrup to be delicious. I’m so glad I didn’t miss out on this—it was one of the most memorable sweets of my trip to Bangkok.
How to Order a Floating Breakfast: Instagram-Worthy Breakfast
Want to experience an Instagram-worthy floating breakfast? This hotel offers this unique dining option all day.
The special floating breakfast for two costs just 1,500 THB and can be booked in advance.
Thai and Western Delights: Lunch and Dinner Recommendations
On the second night, we chose to dine at the hotel’s rooftop restaurant.
The restaurant’s atmosphere changes dramatically between day and night. During the day, natural light creates a warm and cozy space. At night, the red tones and lighting create a chic and mysterious ambiance, with the city’s nightscape adding to the romance.
The last order for dinner is at 9:30 PM. To get the best view, I recommend making a reservation through the front desk.
The menu offers more variety than I expected, with both Thai and Western dishes available, ranging from light snacks to main courses and appetizers. With so many options, I asked the server for recommendations and ended up trying the Spicy Salmon Salad, Duck Noodles, and Mango Sticky Rice.
Spicy Salmon Salad – 350 THB
When I asked for recommendations, the server cautioned me about the spiciness of this dish, checking if I was okay with spicy food. If you enjoy spicy flavors, this dish is highly recommended.
The salmon chunks are bite-sized, and the deep-fried salmon with Thai spicy sauce is very refreshing and appetizing, perfect as a beer snack. However, it is quite spicy, even for someone used to spicy food like me. Make sure to enjoy it while it’s hot, as the salmon can become dry and hard when cold.
Duck Noodle Set – 350 THB
In such a scenic and romantic setting, you might think Western dishes are the way to go. However, my Southeast Asian taste buds craved local flavors, so I chose the Duck Noodle Set.
Proving that Asian cuisine can outshine Western dishes, the duck noodles were generous in portion, with tender, juicy duck meat carrying a hint of herbal aroma reminiscent of medicinal soup and bak kut teh. The bitter melon added a refreshing touch, balancing the rich broth’s sweetness.
The fried wonton in the set was also a pleasant surprise—crispy without being oily, maintaining its crunchiness even when cooled. It’s a dish I’d definitely order again.
Sticky Rice with Mango – 180 THB
Mango Sticky Rice is a classic Thai dessert. I chose this to end my delightful dinner, but I underestimated my appetite—it was a generous portion. The mango was soft and perfectly sweet, while the sticky rice was substantial and textured, with a mildly sweet coconut milk flavor. It was a perfect finish.
Moo Deng (Coconut Milk Jelly)
Towards the end of our meal, the staff surprised us with a plate of adorable hippo-shaped coconut jelly. With a friendly smile, they asked if I knew about Moo Deng, the famous pygmy hippo from Thailand. The decorative flowers on the plate added a charming touch, and the coconut jelly inspired by Moo Deng was too cute to resist. Made from Thai coconut milk, it was a delightful representation of Thai desserts.
Hotel Clover Asoke Experience
From its prime location in the city center to the short walk from the station, Hotel Clover Asoke offers incredible value for its price. The amenities and services were excellent, making it hard to find any faults. If I had to nitpick, it would be the overly cold air conditioning and my initial difficulty finding the remote control.
The front desk staff and all the employees I encountered were always smiling and attentive. Special thanks to the front desk staff! I couldn’t help but notice his adorable nail art. (I secretly wish the hotel would offer manicure services in addition to massages, as Thai manicures are a must-try for many female travelers.)
The incredible breakfast at Clover reminded me of the “Peak-End Rule” in psychology, which suggests that people remember their experiences based on the peak moments and the ending. Throughout my two-day stay, the exceptional service and amenities at this hotel, culminating in that perfect breakfast, left me with a lasting and unforgettable memory. With its prime location near BTS Asok and excellent facilities, this establishment stands out as a top choice for family travel in Bangkok. Given the opportunity, I will definitely choose their branch in Phuket for my future travels.
